ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland midfielder Shawn Claud Lawson has been chosen to play with the U-23 Jamaican National Team in an international friendly on March 8 against the Cayman Islands National Team in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The match is in preparation for the 2016 Olympic qualifying games that begin this summer.

Lawson was an All-Horizon League first team selection and helped lead the Golden Grizzlies to their first Horizon League regular season and tournament titles, while also making it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for just the second time in the Division I era after a 2-0 defeat of No. 24 Kentucky in the opening round. He led the team with four goals, all during league play, and also recorded an assist in the 2-0 win over No. 10 Michigan State.

Lawson has represented Jamaica in the past as he participated for the U-17 National Team at the U17 World Cup in Mexico before coming to Oakland in 2011. He will join fellow Horizon League members Nico Campbell and Ramone Howell from Valparaiso on the team.
